Born in Porto Allegre, Brazil in 1981, Tiago Sperotto has risen to prominence as a photographer over the past five years. Coming to the United States at the age of 22, Tiago decided to leave the comfort of his native country to embark on new experiences abroad. His travels led him to Los Angeles in 2003 where Sperotto worked as a valet attendant to make ends meet while immersing himself in American culture to pick up the language. It wasn’t until Tiago stumbled upon his girlfriend’s camera that he realized that he had an eye for compelling imagery and the intuition to create lasting images.
Taking pictures in his spare time, Tiago decided to enroll in photography classes at Santa Monica City College to learn more about his craft. Developing a keen understanding for aesthetic and the composition of an image, Tiago began shooting pictures for friends and family members, as he continued to improve with each shot. Quickly realizing his innate skills for creating images, Tiago knew he had found his calling.
Today, it is hard not to acknowledge Tiago’s gifts. Seeking to capture the essence of a moment, while presenting each artifact in its natural form, Tiago’s images relate an honesty that reveals the sincerity of his work. “Photography is meditation for me,” says Sperotto, “It’s simply what makes me happy.” Finding joy in capturing the world around him, Tiago’s talents will only improve as he continues to pursue his passions and follow his heart.
