Born in 1979 in Fountain Valley, I was the son of Romy and Ester Baillo, two legal immigrants from the Philippines. We didn't have much my early childhood, but lack of money was never an excuse for ignorance in my household. My father's one extravegance was his National Geographic Magazine subscription. This was where I fell in love with photography.
When I was a child, my favorite time of the month was when the new National Geographic magazine would arrive in the mail, and I got to spend an afternoon reading it, and looking at the amazing pictures, before my dad even got a shot at it. I was amazed at how one photograph could tell such a long story, or transport you to distant lands and cultures.
My true love, is nature photography. I go out whenever I can to get lost in random woods for hours at a time just taking pictures of anything and everything. Living in Central New York (Ithaca) for the past three years, before moving back to CA, has helped me hone my skills as a nature photographer. On the side, to actually fund my photography equipment, I do portrait work.
I am a husband of 8 years, and a father of two beautiful daughters Hailey (7) and Ashlyn (2). My children were my first subjects when I started taking photography more serious as a possible business. I am currently enrolled in the Art Instititues BS in Photography program, but am thinking of changing my school to the University of Phoenix, so that I can pursue a degree in Business with a focus on Small Business Management and Entrepreneurship. This may be very different, but still relates to my photography. The choice was made, because I already know how to work my camera, and process. Anything I don't know how to do, is easy to learn on the side. The Business degree would help me turn my hobby into a lucrative business. And in the meantime while working towards that goal, that degree will help be more marketable in the 9-5 workplace.

I believe a photographers job is to capture the very essence of his subject, and make it readily available to be seen and experience, in completely new ways.
