Joanna Bailey’s work alternates between sensual, emotionally charged paintings and geometric, graphically colored work that emphasizes form and line. All her paintings are saturated in rich, larger-than-life colors that speak of the artist’s immense creativity and free-flowing brushwork. Works such as “Inner Sanctum” and “Pump” show the viewer a sense of dynamic motion and fluid intensity that evokes what Bailey believes is our fundamental connection to Spirit and Nature. Paintings such as “City Dance” and “Tribe in the City” offer the same vivacity while showing the mutability within the structure of an urban setting. Bailey states that her art keeps her “creatively charged and happy.” For the viewer, this creative charge flows through her canvas and inspires the senses. Joanna Bailey has exhibited her work in California, Nevada, New York, Italy and Germany. She is a self taught artist who currently lives and works in Huntington Beach, California.
“I approach the canvas with a blank mind and let my heart and emotions come through my brush and with every stroke I strive to delve deeper into the recesses of my soul. I suppose it is an attempt to communicate what sometimes lies just beneath my conscious awareness. My paintings embody the spirit realm, microscopic views of nature and the pleasures of human indulgence. Each piece is a universe of sensation evoked by color and fluidity which portrays the complexity of feelings. These are my feelings on canvas.”
