ARENA 1 GALLERY is hosting one of Ashley McLean's legendary workshops, Practical Advice for Visual Artists on May 29th from 1-4 p.m.

This three-hour lecture provides straightforward advice for artists interested in obtaining exhibitions, building their resume, marketing and promoting their work, and finding gallery representation. Topics include:

* How do you know when you are ready to start showing your work?
* Where do you fit in and how do you get there?
* How do you approach galleries and art critics?
* How do you effectively market yourself?
* What are the do's and don'ts in promoting your art?

ABOUT ASHLEY: Ms. Emenegger has been an active leader in the artistic community since 1997. She founded McLean Fine Art in 2004. McLean Fine Art, www.mcleanfineart.com, provides arts consultancy services, visual artist career coaching, and distinctive local and national fine art exhibitions. McLean Fine Art also offers strategic and press consultation to art galleries and non-profit organizations.

Her art reviews and features have been published in multiple publications. She is currently a staff writer for the cultural site flavorpill.com. As managing editor, Ms. Emenegger was a key player in the editorial reinvigoration of THE Magazine Los Angeles, a large-format monthly art magazine covering the Los Angeles art scene.

Through McLean Fine Art, Ms. Emenegger has placed artwork in numerous private collections and served as art advisor and curator to several nonprofit groups. Her independent curatorial projects, including the Sunset Boulevard video billboard installation series in collaboration with the City of West Hollywood, have received write-ups and reviews in the LA Times, Artweek, Artscene, Review Magazine, among others. Ms. Emenegger has also had extensive published and televised interviews and appearances.

Ms. Emenegger has worked with hundreds of artists, providing them professional career and business counsel. She lectures extensively and has provided workshops through MOCA, the Santa Monica Museum of Art, UCLA Extension, Los Angeles County Arts Commission, Flintridge Foundation, Santa Monica College, Center for Cultural Innovation, Ventura County Arts Commission, Fullerton College, Ryman Arts, Pasadena City College, the Orange County Center for the Arts, among many others.

Ms. Emenegger is a graduate of Sarah Lawrence College, New York.
